In a game where it didn’t feel like anyone was particularly bothered (not even the programmes which didn’t show up until half time) a piece of quite frankly comical time wasting/ineptitude from Preston and the referee spurred us on to find an equaliser. This prevented us from losing two out of our last three home matches but it still felt like a rather flat performance barring the last five minutes plus stoppage time.
ANTHONY PATTERSON: 6/10
Basically had nothing to do all game, spilled one ball but it didn’t cause any bother and the goal wasn’t anything he could do about. Distribution was just ok.
TRAI HUME: 6.5/10
Put in a lovely tackle in the second half and defended well in general. His crossing and passing was a mixture of Hollywood balls (a bit hopeful and he probably should have tried something more simple) and other players not taking advantage of them when they were put into dangerous areas. I was tempted to give him a straight seven out of 10 but he got himself booked for a poor challenge.
CHRIS MEPHAM: 6/10
Could have done better for their goal, at least try to close him down, but had a pretty solid time of things the rest of the night. Had a lovely burst forward late on that nearly caused some bother.
LUKE O’NIEN: 6/10
He was alright, no major errors however he did struggle when things got physical and gave away a few fouls. Made a few blocks.
DENNIS CIRKIN: 7/10
I thought he did decently whilst linking up with Watson and his defensive work was perfectly passable. Crossed dangerously into the area in the first half but nothing came of it.
DAN NEIL: 6/10
Got turned nastily for the opener, although he was ok for the rest of the game. A highlight was a lovely pinged pass in the first half that nearly led to a goal.
JOBE BELLINGHAM: 6/10
Workrate wasn’t there for me, just think he could have gotten a few yards further forward all night. Saying that, he never allowed himself to be bullied and was better in our own half.
PATRICK ROBERTS: 6.5/10
No end product from him, so I’m not going to go really high with his rating. I thought he performed some nice dribbles and on a different night something might have come off.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 6/10
Another six, which does make me look quite indecisive, but Mayenda got himself into good positions a couple of times and then just didn’t produce. Missed a bit of a sitter in the first half, he may have been offside though.
TOMMY WATSON: 5.5/10
Looked bright a couple of times but then would play himself into bother or make an unforced error. He also missed a very good chance that came from a cross. I think he just needs some more minutes in him to gain match sharpness.
WILSON ISIDOR: 4.5/10
Failed to score with the best chance of the night and looked pretty absent throughout the 90 minutes.
SUBS:
CHRIS RIGG: 6/10
He didn’t offer too much but he wasn’t bad, I just think he’s not best placed out on the right.
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 7.5/10
Came to life after the time wasting saga finally ended, working well down the left hand side and rescued us a point with an absolute screamer.
