Sunderland were deservedly beaten 3-1 at the London Stadium by relegation-threatened West Ham United. The hosts were 3-0 up at the break and we could only muster up a consolation via Brian Brobbey in the second half to avoid complete embarrassment.
ROBIN ROEFS: 6.5/10
Did what he could, you can’t blame him for any of the goals in my opinion, especially the penalty and the third one.
NORDI MUKIELE: 5/10
Horrible first half, improved in the second and ended up with an assist though.
DAN BALLARD: 5/10
Had his hands full and it wasn't really his fault, but not great. It's hard to give a high rating to a defender when you've conceded three goals in the first half.
OMAR ALDERETE: 5.5/10
A bit more refined than Ballard but not a shining performance. Lost his head a bit in injury time and completely ignored the ball at one point to square up to their player on our goal line.
REINILDO: 3.5/10
Shocking to be honest, no surprise he was brought off at half time. Bowen had the beating of him and our defender could have had no complaints if he'd been sent off in the first half for a second yellow.
TRAI HUME: 2/10
He isn’t a midfielder, so part of this is on Regis Le Bris, but he didn’t do himself any favours. Horrible defensive performance, constantly gave the ball away and arguably signed our death warrant by giving the penalty away rather unnecessarily.
NOAH SADIKI: 5.5/10
Not poor however you can’t say he was good either. Forced a save early on with a well-struck volley. Let down by his teammates and the lack of midfield cover on this occasion.
ENZO LE FEE: 5.5/10
Similar to Sadiki, at least he attacked loose balls which is more than most did today.
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 3/10
He was a liability down the left hand side. He wasn’t just bad on the attacks, he actively hindered us defensively by giving the ball away so often.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 3/10
Anonymous in the first half and poor in the second.
BRIAN BROBBEY: 6.5/10
Starved of good service and struggled to bully their backline, and missed a couple of chances to drive forward prior to the break. He did score though and that’s all you can ask your striker to do. He's now our top scorer for the season.
SUBS:
DENNIS CIRKIN: 6/10
Not too busy but he did have a go.
HABIB DIARRA: 6/10
We looked a lot better with him on the pitch but unfortunately nothing came off for him.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 6/10
Most of our action was down the opposite flank after the interval so he wasn’t on the ball a lot. Looked bright when he was though.
WILSON ISIDOR: 5/10
Squandered one decent chance and generally struggled to get onto the ball in any meaningful way.
LUKE O’NIEN: N/A
Almost caught the goalkeeper out with a cross late on but barely had any time to effect things.
