START OF WEEK ROUNDUP

We have been linked with a couple of new players, one of our current crop is being targeted by a former club of his and there has been an update in our pursuit of a striker.

CLEMENT BISCHOFF

We are interested in signing 19-year-old Clement Bischoff of Brondby. The Denmark U21 international can play in a variety of different positions, primarily out on the left side of the pitch, left wing back, left-sided midfielder and left-winger as well as as an attacking midfielder. He’s been doing well playing in the U21 Euros recently, scoring twice and assisting once in three appearances. His price tag has been set at £5.1 million. A number of clubs in Europe, and Wolves in England are also after the youngster.

DENNIS CIRKIN

Spurs could potentially make a move to re-sign Dennis Cirkin this summer, with the club facing pressure to comply with a UEFA rule that compels clubs in the Champions League to have at least four “club-trained players” in their squad for the competition.

NEW GOALKEEPING COACH?

Sunderland want to bring highly rated goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler to the club. Cutler is currently employed by Wolverhampton Wanderers but is on gardening leave. We have two choices, we can either pay a compensation fee to bring him in now or wait until his contract expires. He’s previously worked at West Brom and Aston Villa, as well as currently working in the England U20s setup.

VANAT UPDATE

Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv want £17.1 million for their striker Vladyslav Vanat, despite some reports suggesting they upped their asking price to £21.4 million which have been dismissed as false by media in Ukraine. Reportedly, we are the only club so far to have made formal contact with the Kyiv club about the player despite interest from Fulham and Leeds United too. Last season the 23-year-old netted 21 goals and chipped in with six assists in 45 appearances.

BATTH TO DERBY

Danny Batth is set to join Derby County on a one-year deal as a free agent after regularly turning out for Blackburn Rovers last term. He previously played for us from 2022-23 and helped us win promotion from League One before winning the Fans’ Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards in our first season back in the Championship.

HABIB KEITA

23-year-old midfielder Habib Keita of Clermont Foot is another player we are pursuing the signature of. Able to play in the middle of the pitch, in a more attacking role or in a more defensive role, plus he can be deployed out on the right wing too. We face competition from Crystal Palace as well as from QPR and Stoke City in the Championship to bring him in.
