Regis Le Bris has given his initial thoughts on Sunderland's defeat at the hands of Sheffield United, and given a message to the fans who are sticking with the club through this rough patch.
PLAYED WELL, DIDN'T SCORE
“My first thought is frustration because I think we played the game we wanted to play. Obviously it was against a strong team at a tough place here, but we dominated most of the game. I thought we were good out of possession after taking maybe 10 or 15 minutes to manage their positions and then it was clear and efficient. In possession we took confidence and we were dominant. The last point obviously is to score, and we didn’t. My main concern at the minute is that one."
KEEP WORKING
"How we can be so dominant against such a strong team and lose at the end is really frustrating. Obviously it is not just a question of luck, we have to work. We have to level up many small details to find the solution.”
PLAYING WITH 10 MEN
“I think it is a good experience and probably many other managers would have chosen another solution, but we kept our style of play and our identity because we were dominant away and we wanted to keep this idea. We kept a 4-4-1 out of possession and a 3-1-4-1 in possession. I think it was a good idea but at the end it is the same outcome so we are a little bit disappointed. Our fans were good, and we were good sometimes but not enough to win the game.”
FANS
“They are impressive. They are still behind us, even at the end of the game they were with us so we have to enjoy our supporters. They are very important for us. Obviously at the moment we are not winning and I know that can be frustrating for them as well. We are frustrated but I know that for the supporters it is still important to have this enjoyment after a strong week like that. We will keep working, keep moving, we want to deserve their support and I hope we will win again soon.”
