RLB POST COV

Regis Le Bris has reacted to Sunderland's last-second winner against Coventry City, spoken about the incredible atmosphere on the night and looked ahead to a massive game at Wembley.

TOGETHER TIL THE END

"They went through difficult periods in this game but they never gave up. So we can feel this energy even when its tough, they are so connected with the ambition of the club and the group. They are still together. You can complain about technical choice, turnover and so on, but they keep going. They want to win 'til the end."

REPRESENT THE REGION

"It was absolutely about the togetherness, it is really important to highlight the spirit of this team. It is so impressive. They are not always brilliant on the ball, but I think they represent well this region, the club and the way you have to play to win. It's about mentality, character, the ability to fight all the way even when it is tough. This group is absolutely fantastic for that."

SOL ATMOSPHERE

"It was really impressive. The atmosphere was crazy. They helped a lot because we went through difficult moments, their energy was contagious. They were our twelfth man, really. I think it makes the difference. It's about behaviours, shared energy, connections together and after that, we know that being promoted, starting in 16th place last season, you have to create something else. It started probably with previous experiences but now this ambition was really clear. It was sensitive during the season, so they deserve it."

MIGHTY BALLARD HEADER

“It was fantastic. That late winner - what a moment. For the fans, and for everyone who loves Sunderland, it was probably the most powerful way to experience it right to the end."

ATTACK OR DEFEND?

“As a coach, it was tough. After the first leg, I think we were a bit nervous. We were caught between two mindsets: do we go and attack, or do we sit back and defend? To be fair, Coventry were good. They controlled large parts of the game, and their performance was deserved."

IN-GAME CHANGES

"We made a couple of changes to rebalance the team with a different shape. From there, we dominated extra time and probably deserved to score in that moment. The players never gave up. They’re always connected. There’s a really special character in this team. Even when we’re not at our best with the ball, we’re still incredibly hard to beat. Because of that character and togetherness, we can still believe.”

SHEFF UTD IN THE FINAL

They are a really good team. Well-organised with different threats, good experience. They were in the Premier League last season, so another tough challenge. But I think to be promoted at the end, you have to break something and it will be tough, but we’ll have our ambition, we’ll have our desire to win and we’ll give all the quality we have in this group, the character, the ambition and so on.”

ONE MORE MATCH

“What we lived together this season was absolutely brilliant and we don't have to forget that. After that, it's really important to think about Wembley now because one more game, it will be another tough challenge and we are now really focused on that future."
