“I’m happy, especially after three weeks and the last win at Newcastle was an important win for the club, for the fans and now it’s back to the Premier League. We’re happy and refreshed for the final sprint.”

PRESSURE ON TOTTENHAM

“Tottenham are a big club with top players but they have struggled to generate momentum this season and you never know how you create this vicious cycle. Injuries, efficiencies, doubt and it means that this league is unforgiving, really demanding and it’s hard to break. They are in this situation, it doesn’t mean that they are not good, they have good quality, they are strong, I repeat, but when the doubt is in your head, it's hard to manage the situation. With a new coach, I think he’s a great coach, strong experience internationally and in the Premier League, good ideas, clear identity, the ability to, I think, switch the momentum but we never know when and how.”

FACING DE ZERBI AGAIN

“It was a bit different because it was in pre-season (against Marseille in 2024) and I think in that moment you have the time to implement your ideas and you can take risks on the pitch, then if you lose the ball and you concede a goal you can learn from the experience. Now it’s different, totally different, in the league but the style is the style and I think it will be the best version of Roberto De Zerbi if he is himself, not someone else. I think it will go all the way and it will be interesting.”

SURPRISED AT TOTTENHAM’S SITUATION?

“It’s hard to say because I don’t know everything about the club and the dynamic, it’s always hard to say. What we know is the level of belief, it’s really demanding and it highlights our journey in this league because we’ve had tough periods as well. For example, the three consecutive defeats and then we went to Bournemouth and Leeds, with many injuries, and we might have had this long sequence without winning points but we reacted and it’s tough. It’s always on the edge and we have key moments and we had the ability to change the dynamic, it’s never easy.”
