Regis Le Bris held his West Ham press conference this afternoon and covered a range of subjects. Our two AFCON finalists (Habib Diarra & Chemsdine Talbi) have both returned to training and are in contention for Saturdays midday kickoff against West Ham and Regis also reflected on what we can take from the Palace game heading into our next challenge at the London Stadium.
DIARRA/TALBI
"They are back training. Habib only today so the check on him is ongoing, but they could be available. I hope they will be able to play but we’ll see for the starting XI."
DIARRA RETURN
"He spoke about this final in the dressing room, he was happy. Chemsdine not so happy... but they are still friends! A good experience for Habib even if he could not be involved in the final. He reminded us how pleased he was to be supported by the club before and then during this period. We work for the club and the Premier League [games] but also for the players. Now he can bring positive vibes back to us. At the beginning of the season and before AFCON, I said I don’t want to set a limit for us. All we can control is how we work every day."
PALACE
"We are getting better. The team is improving throughout different experiences. At the same time, there is no comfort zone in the Premier League. Against Crystal Palace it was on the edge in the first half. We played a good second half so it’s important to say that earning points in this league is really tough, especially for a newly-promoted side."
WEST HAM CHALLLENGE
"It shows how tough this league is because they are a good side with experienced players. They have not given up, this is clear. They have won their last two games, deserved more against Nottingham Forest. They have recruited two new forwards so I believe they can bounce back. It will be another exciting challenge for us."
ALWAYS DANGEROUS
"It’s always about key moments. You can be really well organised, adaptive, high intensity... and even then you do things well they can hurt you. Jarrod Bowen is a very good example of this."
