RIGG SHOULD BE FINE FOR LEEDS

Regis Le Bris has given an update on Chris Rigg's fitness after the teenager limped off the pitch against Luton, after going down for treatment earlier in the game. Rigg has just returned to the side following a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, so it's a relief that this incident was not serious. RLB has also explained the decision to bring Dan Ballard into the side in place of Chris Mepham.

NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT

“I think Riggy was just tired. He’s okay. It was also good news to have Jenson [Seelt] back in the squad after a long, long injury – he was ready.”

BALLARD PHYSICALITY

"That was a good reason, but at the same time, he was ready to play and, in that part of the squad, we have a bit more depth now so it is possible to manage different players according to the challenge we have."

COMPETITION IS POSITIVE

"He worked very well behind the scenes, even though he didn’t play so much in the last few games. He was ready and he showed his good qualities."

MEPHAM BENCHED

“I wouldn’t say it was a difficult conversation with Chris because all the players know that we have a good squad and a good team. We have depth in different positions and for me, this is the rules of the level."

STRENGTH IN DEPTH

“Players need competition to push themselves and this helps the team. It is better to have three or four good central defenders to be able to perform over the course of the season. These are the conditions we want to consider.”
