RATINGS V BRENTFORD

Sunderland earned a point at Brentford despite having a goal chalked off under dubious circumstances and going a goal behind. The hosts took the lead through Vitaly Janelt near the hour mark before an Enzo Le Fee penalty with less than minutes to go guaranteed we’d travel back to the North East with something.

ROBIN ROEFS: 6/10:

Made a decent save just before their goal and was playing well but failed to properly deal with the ball right before they went 1-0 up.

NORDI MUKIELE: 8/10

Had a good game I thought, made a lot of clearances. Perhaps a bit weaker when directly challenging for the ball with another player.

KEVIN DANSO: 8.5/10

Enthusiastic on his maiden voyage for Sunderland, you couldn’t doubt his effort. The effort usually paid off as well.

DAN BALLARD: 8.5/10

Should have had a goal in my opinion and was solid defensively.

REINILDO: 8.5/10

No complaints from me. Worked hard, particularly in the second half, to chase his man down.

GRANIT XHAKA: 7.5/10

Not at his best for the goal but very good otherwise. Ironically played a key role when we were under pressure.

NOAH SADIKI: 8/10

Probably should have scored in the second half but worked his socks off whilst he was involved this afternoon.

THOMAS MEUNIER: 6/10

He wasn’t as good as he was against Fulham but I wouldn’t say he was poor. Only 20 touches isn’t great. Struggled to get into the game in the 'Hume' role.

ENZO LE FEE: 9/10

Redeemed himself after last season’s penalty miss at Brentford and easily could have scored another today, sending a great strike into the post.

NILSON ANGULO: 7.5/10

Took his man on well in the first half and got unlucky once or twice with the way things came off. Quietened following the break but if he keeps this up all season the goals and assists will come.

BRIAN BROBBEY: 8.5/10

A more fortunate afternoon sees a goal from him. He held the ball up well and linked up effectively with Wilson Isidor. The referee treated him far too harshly.

TRAI HUME: 7.5/10

Made us more dangerous on the right but didn’t get a lot of clear cut opportunities to run at them.

WILSON ISIDOR: 8/10

He won the penalty and looked bright. Nice to see him play alongside Brobbey for once, rather than replace the Dutchman up front.

MALICK FOFANA: 7.5/10

Quick and put in a great ball before we won the penalty. An encouraging start, albeit one where we didn’t see a lot of what he could do.
