RATINGS V AFC

Sunderland lost 3-0 to league-leaders Arsenal away from home. The hosts were 1-0 up at the break and scored another two before the conclusion. Despite the scoreline, it wasn’t a performance you can be too angry about.

ROBIN ROEFS: 6.5/10

Made two saves and there was definitely nothing he could have done about at least two of the goals. Not sure about the second one, as I haven’t seen a replay but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Commanded his box well and his distribution was good.

TRAI HUME: 6.5/10

Held his own against their attack throughout the game and was involved up the other end of the pitch too. Missed a good chance to shoot in the second half though.

NORDI MUKIELE: 7/10

Defensively great, he wasn’t afraid to get stuck in either and one sliding tackle in the first half stood out in particular. Was good out on the right hand side towards their box as well.

DAN BALLARD: 6.5/10

Struggled in the air but good on the ground, nothing too wrong with his performance. Set off the chain of events for their third goal, he should have let it fall to Romaine Mundle out wide but he just tapped it out of the box and let them hit us on the break.

OMAR ALDERETE: 5.5/10

He’s had better games to be honest. Looked a bit suspect a couple of times in the first half and played a role in their second goal.

REINILDO: 6/10

An okay game from him, got done for their final goal though. Played some nice passes forward I thought and linked up well with Roefs.

HABIB DIARRA: 7/10

Not on the ball very often but when he was he was good, had a good thing going with Brian Brobbey.

NOAH SADIKI: 7/10

Barely put a foot wrong and did some good off the ball work too.

ENZO LE FEE: 6/10

Tried the fancy stuff too often for my liking but he wasn’t bad by any means. A bit lightweight at times and could have closed down their man for the opener a bit more vociferously.

CHEMSDINE TALBI: 6.5/10

Had limited opportunities to have an effect today but he did force a save early in the second half and looked bright.

BRIAN BROBBEY: 6.5/10

One shot early on in the game and had a few positive moments when holding off their defenders. Tough opposition to face as a sole striker.

SUBS:

ROMAINE MUNDLE: 6/10

Burst through at one point but missed the chance to shoot. Not an awful lot to judge him on but his passing could have been a tad better.

LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 6/10

Didn’t do much after coming on but there wasn’t much chance for him to make an impact and he got the basics right.

NILSON ANGULO: N/A

Good to see him making his debut and he played well but I can’t rate him on just five touches.

WILSON ISIDOR: N/A

Just the two touches when the game was already dead, with us 2-0 down.
