PLAYER RATINGS VS PLYMOUTH

Sunderland dropped two points late on versus bottom of the league Plymouth Argyle. Ultimately we weren’t positive enough for large periods of the match to warrant three points and parked the bus late on.

ANTHONY PATTERSON: 5/10

The first goal of the match was an own goal by him, although I don’t think he takes most of the blame for it. With their equaliser I think he should have commanded his box more thoroughly, there’s also other players to point to for it and O’Nien probably should have left it for him.

TRAI HUME: 9/10

There’s very little to mark him down for, defensively he was generally solid and he assisted the equaliser and then scored himself. Also created plenty of chances throughout the match.

CHRIS MEPHAM: 5/10

In my opinion he played a huge role in causing the first goal and that’s massively hampered his rating. Other than that he didn’t really do anything wrong but then wasn’t greatly troubled bar the last 10 minutes or so.

LUKE O’NIEN: 5.5/10

Like I’ve said, he should have left the ball for Patterson before their second. Similarly to Mepham, wasn’t too busy until the closing stages and wasn’t bad throughout the rest of the match.

DENNIS CIRKIN: 6.5/10

Drew lots of fouls and didn’t fare too badly defensively, he was off the pitch by the time Plymouth really started going for it so there’s not much to comment on other than his attacking.

DAN NEIL: 6.5/10

Not much wrong from him today, he wasn’t one of the best players on the pitch though which is unusual from him recently. Made their goalkeeper pull off a good save in the first half.

SALIS ABDUL SAMED: 6/10

Nothing notable from him but he did the simple things quite well. He fell over at one point after failing to win the ball.

PATRICK ROBERTS: 6/10

He didn’t create an awful amount today but it’s hard to say he was poor.

JOBE BELLINGHAM: 6.5/10

There were some nice bursts forward from him, his passing was good and he forced them to foul him a few times. Not an awful lot from Bellingham in the final third though.

ENZO LE FÉE: 6/10

There were flashes of his quality but there were a couple of times where he did really well to get himself into the box and then the final ball was just lacking. I didn’t notice him much after the break.

WILSON ISIDOR: 7/10

Isidor didn’t impact the game as much as he should have and he struggled at times to get the better of their backline when it got physical. He did score though and that’s ultimately his main job.

SUBS:

ELIEZER MAYENDA: 6.5/10

Dropping him was harsh for this one I feel and he was unlucky not to be awarded a penalty (I haven’t seen a replay of it though so maybe not). It never really fell for him in just under half an hour and only had one blocked shot.

DAN BALLARD: 6/10

I can’t really say he has any blame for their equaliser. Possibly he could have done a bit better in the air though.

CHRIS RIGG: 6.5/10

He was a bit more forward thinking than Samed but he was an attacking midfielder who came on whilst we were trying to hold on rather than score, aside from a few minutes in stoppage time, so he didn’t have the chance to show off much.

LEO HJELDE: N/A

Played a few minutes at the end but no rating because his minutes were very limited.
