Sunderland’s FA Cup campaign came to an end after a defeat to Port Vale.
MELKER ELLBORG: 5/10
He wasn’t super busy today (they had just the one shot on target) and he did well to stop O’Nien scoring a comical own goal. Still, looked nervous and was very close to being sent off.
LUTSHAREL GEERTRUIDA: 3.5/10
Completely cruised through the game, offered little of note.
DAN BALLARD: 5/10
Had some of our best chances of the game, via some headers. I thought he could have gotten more power onto his chances.
OMAR ALDERETE: 5/10
Squandered a decent chance around an hour in. Had a couple of passes that should have been used better by our attack however he was slow (like everyone else) and didn’t have the urgency needed as time ticked away.
LUKE O’NIEN: 4/10
Set off the chain of events that led to their goal with a stupid clearance that almost went in itself. Poor crossing.
HABIB DIARRA: 4/10
Had a huge chance about half an hour in that was missed and wasn’t strong enough physically.
CHRIS RIGG: 4.5/10
Awful first half, better in the second but still below par. Crossed into the box during the second half to almost get an assist but Angulo messed it up.
NILSON ANGULO: 3.5/10
Tried to be too clever a lot of the time rather than being pacy and direct. Missed that aforementioned chance from Rigg too.
ENZO LE FEE: 5/10
Created a couple of decent chances but cost us at the end by trying to score from about 40 yards out.
CHEMSDINE TALBI: 3/10
Offered no quality and had a tough time throughout the whole game.
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 3/10
Should have scored within the first five minutes and then his head just seemingly dropped and he couldn’t get onto the ball to save his life.
SUBS:
WILSON ISIDOR: 3/10
No work rate.
GRANIT XHAKA: 5/10
He should have been brought on sooner. Mostly fine but nothing special in limited minutes.
