Sunderland threw away two points in a very poor second half showing. On the positive side the first half was what we were used to, with two lovely goals from Wilson Isidor and Dennis Cirkin respectively.
SIMON MOORE: 6.5/10
He pulled off a great save in the second half and his distribution seemed better than it was on Wednesday night. Conceded twice but not really his fault for either of them.
TRAI HUME: 6/10
He was ok going forward, I think he got pushed around a bit defensively however and also got himself suspended for a game. The yellow card came after a great run forward though, so I’m not going to be too harsh.
CHRIS MEPHAM: 6/10
Made the odd error but was generally solid, like everybody had a good 45 minutes and then struggled at times in the second half.
LUKE O’NIEN: 6/10
Had a solid game but similarly to Mepham, had a difficult period in the second half. I think he was playing himself into bother needlessly on a few occasions. Did well to get forward throughout the game.
DENNIS CIRKIN: 7/10
What a wonderful strike, I think everyone probably wanted him to pass to Isidor but he made the right decision in the end. His defensive work wasn’t too shabby mostly.
DAN NEIL: 6/10
I didn’t really notice him much, except when he for some reason chose to pass to Connolly rather than shoot himself. A situation where he should have had a shot but didn’t has occurred in the last few games with him.
ALAN BROWNE: 6.5/10
He was alright, he definitely battled for it quite well but he could have done better when the ball got towards the danger area.
PATRICK ROBERTS: 5.5/10
I’m not going to give him a five because I think he was alright before things got to the final third, however he would then cut inside and not have a clue what to do with it. The result would be a slowing down of the attack, or him taking on a shot that sails far from the goal in one instance.
CHRIS RIGG: 6/10
I noticed him being dispossessed a couple of times but I don’t think he did a lot wrong. Maybe if you’re going to criticise him it was that he wasn’t proactive enough, the midfield as a whole could have come forward a bit more today.
ROMAINE MUNDLE: 7/10
You can’t really complain with two assists even if his shooting boots weren’t on today. Worked really hard to get into some good positions but just never could find the back of the net, overhitting his attempts.
WILSON ISIDOR: 8/10
An absolutely wonderful strike, maybe his best so far and that’s saying something. He covered every blade of grass today, there was a time in the second half when he could have released the ball sooner but he scored a goal so I’m not going to count that against him that much.
SUBS:
AARON CONNOLLY: 5/10
Not great from him, got nullified by their backline far too easily and missed a great chance.
DAN BALLARD: 6.5/10
He came on and did quite well, obviously the goal happened after he got involved but saying it was his fault would be overly harsh.
