Jobe Bellingham recently won the North East Writers' Association's Young Player of the Year award alongside teammate Chris Rigg. Upon receiving the reward Jobe took the opportunity to praise Sunderland for their commitment to developing young players such as himself and Riggy.
HAPPY TO SHARE WITH RIGGY
“It feels really good. I’m really honoured to have won the award. There are a lot of top players who have won it in the past, so I’m really pleased. I think, first and foremost, Riggy really deserves it, and I’m delighted we can share it. Both of our names will be attached to that forever I love playing with him. We’ve got a really special bond, and we’re really good mates."
SAYS A LOT ABOUT SUNDERLAND
“For the Club, it shows how much they’ve improved and how amazing they are at nurturing young players. It’s part of the Club’s identity now, and the Club is a great place to be."
RIGG
“I knew about him before I joined (Sunderland), but since coming to the Club, he’s been one of the players I’ve been most impressed with, along with Dan Neil. Playing alongside them, I’ve seen their quality and work ethic firsthand. Riggy trains every day like he wants to get better. He has great ambition and desire - that’s the best thing about him. His hunger to improve will keep pushing him forward.”
CONFIDENT WE'LL FINISH STRONG
“We’ve got a great group of lads who want to get better, and we’re desperate to get this Club back to where it needs to be. Every player here loves playing for this Club - it’s a privilege. I’m confident we’ll finish the season strong.”
