Sunderland won a football match by a two goal margin for the first time since October and deservedly so, with the away side never really threatening. A great strike from Enzo Le Fée gave us the lead before a Wilson Isidor goal in the second half finished the game off.
ANTHONY PATTERSON: 7/10
He had basically nothing to do but he kept a clean sheet and when he did have to command his box he was completely solid.
TRAI HUME: 8/10
Assisted the opener, was defensively brilliant and was a huge benefit going forward. His game can be best summarised by a fantastic sliding challenge late on.
DAN BALLARD: 7/10
Made a ridiculous number of clearances and did well in the air. In terms of things to criticise, some of his long balls were a bit off and a couple of his headers could have easily caused some trouble on a slightly different night.
LUKE O’NIEN: 7.5/10
Helped out with our attacks and performed his defensive duties really well. Only had one dodgy moment I’d say and had a similar night to Ballard with some of his more ambitious passes.
DENNIS CIRKIN: 7/10
Did his job at the back and was proactive when attacking, struggled a tad when thing’s got physical.
DAN NEIL: 8/10
The captain did really well tonight, performed some lovely dribbles and danced around the opponent’s on more than one occasion. Really should have scored in the first half but took too long to get a strike away.
JOBE BELLINGHAM: 8/10
Bellingham was also very good tonight and looked comfortable for the vast majority of the match and he rarely misplaced a pass.
PATRICK ROBERTS: 8/10
A hugely improved performance from Roberts compared to what we’ve seen in recent weeks. Won a free kick in a dangerous area before the break, with his dribbling being top notch tonight. Hit the post as well but should have made more effort to get some contact on the ball when it was flashed across the face of goal later on.
CHRIS RIGG: 7/10
Drew a couple of some pretty nasty fouls and looked tidy on the ball. Wasn’t completely assured when battling for the ball I thought, a big improvement from the last match though.
ENZO LE FÉE: 9/10
Latched onto some balls he had no right to get on the end of and scored a wonderful goal. Their defenders couldn’t cope with him other than trying to foul him. The only real thing to criticise would probably be a poorly taken free kick in the first 45 but he was great tonight.
WILSON ISIDOR: 7.5/10
Scored a goal and was more present on the pitch than versus Watford, I felt like he could have done a slightly better job at controlling some high passes that were directed his way.
SUBS:
ELIEZER MAYENDA: 6.5/10
He showed flashes of quality but really didn’t have long enough on the pitch to really grow into the match.
SALIS ABDUL SAMED: N/A
No rating because he only played a few minutes however he looked decent with what he had to do.
