Despite Regis Le Bris keeping his cards close to his chest when discussing Luke O'Nien's future at the club, the player himself has made it clear that he wants to stay at Sunderland and continue on this great journey at SAFC.
LINKED WITH A MOVE
“I am going absolutely nowhere. I’m staying at Sunderland. Someone told me about what’s apparently been said. I’m not on social media, I delete it when I’m not using it and I’m at home with the kids, but someone’s told me that I’ve been linked with x, y and z. If something’s really true, then fine. But I’ll be staying here unless someone’s trying to kick me out. And even then, I’ll still probably stay."
MORE TO GIVE
“I’ve got a lot of stuff I still want to do. I’m listening to the club, and I know I’ve got to keep getting better and keep pushing the people in front of me. But I love it here, I’m really enjoying my life.”
MAGIC CARPET RIDE
“It’s wonderful here, isn’t it. What we’ve got is one of the reasons why I fell in love with the club. I’ve spoken to upstairs and they’re very clear on the direction they want to go, and I was very grateful they want to bring me on that journey. I’m in line with exactly what the ownership and the sporting directors and the whole team want. I’m going to keep pushing, people are going to be pushing me, and we’re all pushing each other. We’re going to keep going in that right direction.”
SCORING PAST PICKFORD
“I loved that opportunity, scoring the winning penalty. There’s obviously the connection [with Jordan Pickford] and he’s the England number one. Next time he’s on the telly playing for England, I’m going to be telling my kids, ‘I scored against that guy’."
ROOOOFS
"Robin handed me the ball and literally just went, ‘No pressure whatsoever’. I don’t know if that was just a way of him saying, ‘I’m going to save the next one as well’, but it was a nice moment. Maybe if I was slightly younger, I would have put a bit more pressure on myself, but you put the ball down, you execute your rhythm and your routines, and if it goes in, yeah it goes in, if it misses, you’ve always stepped up to take one. To score the winning one was nice, but I don’t want any plaudits, they can all go to Robin for putting it on a plate for me.”
