LEEDS PICKLED BY THE ONION

Under the lights at Elland Road, this was a test of nerve — and Sunderland AFC passed it with steel.

In the cursed black shirt, we weren’t there to admire the occasion. We were there to stand firm.

Our keeper, on debut, set the tone early. Yes, there were moments of fallibility — a slightly loose touch here, a decision that quickened the pulse there — but overwhelmingly it was a strong, brave introduction. He made important stops, claimed under pressure, and showed the kind of presence you build from. For a first outing in that atmosphere, it was predominantly impressive.

Our supporters were yet again absolutely unbelievable. Relentless from the first whistle, they turned hostile ground into a Wearside echo chamber. Every tackle roared. Every clearance cheered. Proper away support — unwavering when it mattered most.

At the heart of it all was Luke O'Nien — Mr. Sunderland. This was his kind of night. Throwing himself into challenges, winning headers, organising the line, dragging standards upward. When pressure built, he met it head-on. Every block was brave. Every duel personal. He didn’t just wear the badge — he embodied it.

Leeds pushed, but Sunderland didn’t bend. Discipline. Graft. Togetherness. No frills — just fight and backbone. Layer by layer, the night was stripped back to what truly matters — unity, resilience, belief.

Another performance built on steel. Another away end setting the standard. Till the end… just the start.
