Since Sunderland have signed A-League Champion Nectarios Triantis from Central Coast Mariners we spoke to @MartyMariner for the lowdown on our first signing of the summer.
Are you sad to see him go?
I’m very sad to see Nectar go as not only individually has he stepped up but he has formed a formidable partnership with Brian Kaltak in the middle.
Is the reported fee of $500,000 (£300,000) fair, do you think it's a better deal for Sunderland or Central Coast Mariners?
I think the money being spoken of would be a steal for Sunderland being honest. He is a major prospect in Australian football.
Reports have told us that this has been his breakthrough season. What kind of player is he?
Nectar reads the game very well and in my view this is his biggest asset. He is only young but is mature way above his years in my opinion.
At just 20 will he be able to adjust to the physicality of the Championship?
Physically yes he could handle it as he has all season. He is strong on the ball and as well as defending can carry the ball forward and play some quality passes through the middle of the park.
Will he fit into Sunderland's squad straight away or do you reckon he'll be loaned out?
I’ll be honest I don’t know of the current quality of your backline but if he can’t make an impact then you must be going well.
Can he make the step up from the A-League?
He is one for the future absolutely but he could handle the scene right now.
