WELCOME NECTARIOS TRIANTIS

This morning Sunderland announced our first signing of the summer. 20 year old Nectarios Triantis is making the move from Australia’s A-League Champions Central Coast Mariners. To Wearside.

Triantis broke into the championship winning squad earlier this season, notching 26 appearances and was included in the PFA A-League Team Of The Season. He is currently with the Under 23 Australia side for the Maurice Revello Tournament in Toulon but after that he’ll make his saw to us. Hopefully moving to the Championship he might be able to claim a senior position for the Socceroos.

We love our Aussie centre backs, just ask Bailey Wright how much affection he’s had on Wearside. I do fear though that we may have one Aussie coming in and one leaving. Bailey didn’t feature much for us last season and was sent on loan to relegation fighters Rotherham and his loan didn’t go so smoothly. He only made seven appearances before being ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Speaking on the move, Triantis said:

“The opportunity to join such a prestigious Club is an honour and I’m really looking forward to heading to England and meeting my new teammates later this month. I’m ready for the challenge ahead and can’t wait to get started. I would like to thank Nick Montgomery and the Central Coast Mariners for giving me the platform that led to this exciting next chapter in my life.”
