Today may not have been as busy as yesterday but the club seem to have still been laying the groundwork for what could be some busier days ahead. We’ve got a new main sponsor and we’re edging closer to bolstering our defence.
WRIGHT CHOICE
Our rock at the back, and the man who showed his leadership, courage and grit looks set to sign a contract extension with the Lads. His contract is up and some Australian teams were eyeing him up but it seems he’s happy to stay on Wearside and we couldn’t be any happier. With recent departures from contracts expiring or loanees going back to their parent clubs that leaves us with Bailey Wright and Danny Batth as our only senior centre backs.
BALLARD DONE
According to several reports everything has been wrapped up for us signing Daniel Ballard from Arsenal on loan. He has supposedly completed his medical today so an official announcement could be pending.
NEW SPONSOR
Sunderland have announced a new sponsor for this season. The current deal will run until 2025. The club have partnered up with a betting company called Spreadex. The deal will see the Spreadex logo on the front of the new kits, whilst also being around the stadium on the electronic sponsor boards on the touchline. Hopefully this allows for some spending before the start of the season and we can see some new faces on Wearside.
