TUESDAY ROUNDUP

It’s been a week since the lads played their last game of the season in that 2-0 defeat to Luton at Kenilworth Road, and since then all of our loanees have said their goodbyes and all eyes are on next season already.

LOANEES SAY THEIR GOODBYES

Edouard Michut, Joe Gelhardt and Amad Diallo have all said their goodbyes to Wearside, none more emotional than the one from Amad, who clearly just gets us. On Instagram, Michut had this to say:

“Hi Sunderland fans, thanks for all the great times and great hospitality.

Disappointed we didn't end up at wembley.

I will never forget this season.

Thanks to all of you”

As for Gelhardt, he kept it short and sweet: “Thank you everyone I enjoyed every minute.”

And then there was Amad, who actually made more than one post thanking us for the support of him and the lads. “hi guys, i know you are sad, we all are. a group of young guys who fought until the last minute, I can only be proud to have been part of this team. no regrets just proud of what each of us has become over the course of the season. thank you for the love. HAWAY THE LADS ❤️🤍” Another post said: “you will always be in my heart❤️🤍” and then he also made one more post, which was a collage of pictures from his time with us, and the caption read: "one day we will meet again🤞🏾❤️🤍"

We wish the best of luck to all of them in their future!

GARY NEVILLE WANTS US TO CHALLENGE FOR THE PREM

Speaking on Sky Sports last night, Gary Neville brought up the financial fair play rules and said he would love to one day see us fighting for the Champions League and Premier League title one day.

PROBLEM WITH FFP

"I want to deal with first FFP. I've got a real problem with FFP and I've had it for a long time. It was driven through by the established elite so that clubs like City, clubs like Chelsea, couldn't compete with them. So basically they could always pat them on the head and say stay down there. No one ever complains about Jack Walker buying the league 30 years ago. I think he wasn't in at that point but no one ever complains about that."

SUNDERLAND IN THE CL?

"I think a new Jack Walker of any town should be able to drive their team, Sunderland, your team Dave (Jones). I'd like the idea that Sunderland one day could compete for the Champions League and for the Premier League title again but under FFP you’re only allowed to spend the money that your revenue allows you, so you’ll always be maintained down there."

ANOTHER MOWBRAY IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Next season Tony Mowbray will have a little family reunion when we play newly relegated Southampton. His brother, Darren Mowbray has recently taken up a job at the Saints as their Head of Recruitment. Convenient as Southampton apparently Had Tony on their shortlist as potential managers next season but thankfully it looks like Tony is going nowhere, other than top of the Championship table next season.
