TRANSFER ROUNDUP

We’re nearing the end of the Summer transfer window and it looks like there are still some business dealings to be done and settled.

ROSS STEWART CRAIC

First off let’s start with Ross Stewart. For the past year he’s been linked with moves away amid not signing a contract extension, which runs out next year. The latest rumour that seems the most concrete is the one linking him to Southampton. According to reports, Southampton had a bid of £4 million plus add ons refused, so they came back with an improved offer of £6 million, plus an additional £1.5 million in add ons. Apparently we are aiming to get £10 million for the Loch Ness Drogba, and to be honest, getting £10 million for a player who has had two major injuries and has a year left on his contract I think would be great business wise, especially considering we got him for next to nothing. But we are already well aware of how hard it is to get a decent striker in so it could be a nervy end to the window.

FORMER SAFC PLAYER TURNED US DOWN?

Sam Greenwood was one of many talented youngsters who was let go a few years ago during our dark times when we were letting any decent lad go. The former academy lad is currently at Leeds but hasn’t been able to stamp down a starting place, with most appearances coming from the bench. Sam was apparently someone who we were interested in getting in on loan but it seems that he has decided to choose Boro over us.

HANDS OFF EKWAH!

In some not so surprising news, we have had to turn down offers from German Bundesliga side Stuttgart for Pierre Ekwah. Pierre ended last season in fantastic form, and from there he has been gathering admirers, and even this season he has looked really promising, but regardless of any offers we have remained adamant that we will be playing this season with Ekwah in the middle of the pitch so hands off everyone!

GELHARDT BACK OUT ON LOAN

With Leeds recently signing Swansea striker Joel Piroe, Joe Gelhardt’s position up top looks to have been pushed back further. Reports suggest he is on his way out from Leeds on another loan, and the club who is favoured to bring him in should come as no surprise in the form of Ipswich. They already took Broadhead after seeing him with us, and now Joffy. I know he wasn’t eclectic when he was here last season but he tried and he was alone, at least if he had come back again this season he could perhaps work with another striker up top, who knows, and he already knows the infrastructure but it doesn’t look like he’ll end up back on Wearside.
