Despite Sunderland's lack of cutting edge up front, and the fact Sunderland haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 11 matches in all competitions (including pre-season), Tony Mowbray is reluctant to change the balance of play that proved so successful for this exciting young team last season. He's recently said the club are looking to bring in more attacking reinforcements to add a bit of killer instinct in the opposition's box.
PRESTON
"I don't think we were under huge pressure [at Preston]," said Mowbray. "I didn't feel they were going to score. Their corners were really dangerous but I thought Anthony Patterson was good on set-plays."
WASN'T VULNERABLE
"I didn't feel vulnerable. In the second half, I genuinely didn't think they could have a shot never mind score a goal, yet we gifted them it. I think you take away the attacking prowess of the team by trying to put another defender in there and shore it up just because we are not scoring goals."
IT WILL CLICK
"We are not far away from being pretty good, I think, and somewhere along the line this season that is going to click into place and we're going to be talking about a team that scores in every game and a team that can run away with games and keep scoring."
