Will the Lads finally win this weekend? Or will we face defeat for the fourth time in a row? Here's how I think it'll pan out against the Millers...
ROTHERHAM
The Millers did really well to avoid the drop last season, and Matt Taylor is hoping that his side can replicate last season's success. Due to how ruthless the division is looking this year survival would be great for Rotherham, especially since they have been tipped by many to go down.
Following a disastrous start against Stoke, Taylor’s side were able to pick up a point against Blackburn. However, Rotherham were 2-0 up in that game, so it was a pretty underwhelming result in the end. I’d say that goalkeeper Viktor Johansson is their best player and keeping him has been one of their best pieces of business this summer. The Millers are a very physical side and that's their main attribute.
SUNDERLAND
Following last week's defeat at Deepdale, Sunderland are in desperate need for a win. During his press conference, Tony Mowbray gave some updates on the infamous striker situation and long story short, it looks like we could be looking at the loan market. Of course nothing's set in stone, so I’m hoping that the club will have a nice surprise for us over the next few weeks and we’ll bring in a new striker on a permanent deal.
When using the loan market you run the risk of the player getting recalled, and we can’t afford to have another Ellis Simms situation. I’m just hoping that we can win this weekend and stop the rot.
MY PREDICTION
Despite the last few games, I’m going to predict a 3-1 win to the Lads. We need to win this game. It's as simple as that. Last week we kept playing ourselves into trouble, so I’m hoping that we’ve learned from our mistakes and we keep things sturdy at the back. I'm going for a Roberts brace and a Clarke goal. They were our best players last week, especially Roberts. He was really unlucky not to score. If we show up then we should win this game.
