ROTHERHAM WANT GRIGG

Top of the table Rotherham United want Will Grigg permanently, no matter what division they are in next year. That is the opinion of their manager at least, Paul Warne, who has made no secret of his admiration for the Sunderland flop. Weird, I know. Grigg has managed to find the back of the net just twice in 19 games this season and is currently injured, so it appears he has managed to recapture his Sunderland form in Yorkshire and is most definitely on fire. Hopefully Grigg does move on from the club in the summer, but it would be sickening to see the Northern Irishman potentially in a league above us next year.

INJURED

“I’ll definitely speak to him. Just because he’s injured now doesn’t mean there’s a long-term problem. He’ll come back from it. It’s not like he’s 38 or something.

''HE'S GREAT''

“I really like Griggy. Whatever league we’re in, I think the club should try to keep him. He ‘gets’ the club, he gets what we’re about. He’s great to coach and manage and has become an integral part of the dressing room."

FOUR STRIKERS

“I like to have four strikers and I’d like to think he’ll be one of them.

RECOVERY

“Unfortunately, his season is over. He’s going to have a repair which will leave him out for longer.''

“The surgeon and our medical team think that will give him the best chance to make the best recovery.”

These comments come after Warne heaping praise on Grigg only a couple of weeks earlier. Here's what he said then...

OP

“The best-case scenario is eight weeks and it could be worse. They're the cards we've been dealt. He may need an op. He's limping, which is obviously a bad sign.''

INJURY

"Sometimes you have a muscle injury where your walking is fine and it's only running at speed that bothers you. It shows the enormity of the injury."

‘EXPERIENCED PRO’

''He's an experienced pro and knows injuries happen. He's disappointed because he's played a big part in our campaign.’’

‘BEST PLAYERS’

“We're now getting to the last stretch where we're going to need our best players, so his absence is a massive blow.''

‘INFLUENCE’

“He's good in the dressing room. He's a calming influence and good around the younger players.”
