ROBERTS POST NCFC

Patrick Roberts was happy to get 90 minutes last night as Sunderland's USA tour came to an end with a win against North Carolina.

TOUGH SHIFT

"It was tough, it’s been a long 10-12 days with all the travel we’ve had to do. It’s been tough but some lads played 90 the other day, some others played 90 today and it was a good shift. I mean, we scored four goals in the first half and I think it was kind of just about fitness after that. It was a bit sloppy but it’s pre-season, that’s what it’s for. We’ll go back to England and work on some stuff. It’s been a good trip though, there’s another game unbeaten and another four goals so it’s good."

ALL ABOUT FITNESS

"It was just about getting more minutes in the legs. Like I said the other lads had 90 the other day, and it was our turn today to get 90 in our legs. It’s been hot the past few days and just glad to get a decent performance, we scored a few goals but there’s stuff to work on back home. We come away from here with three wins so it’s positive."

RARING TO GO

"I’m getting there, I feel good. Obviously it was a decent season last year so you can build on that, I’m feeling good physically and I’m raring to get going and see where it goes. So it’s all good and we’ll see what happens in the next few weeks."

FAN SUPPORT

"Considering the length we’ve had to travel, and they’ve obviously come as well. There’s a lot of them here today and they’re always great, so we appreciate them all the time wherever we are and they show great support throughout. That’s all we can ask for as players, they give us that so we try and give them performances on the pitch. It’s pre-season so hopefully they’ve enjoyed their holiday here. We’ve enjoyed ours, it’s been alright!"
