ROBERTS POST LINCOLN

Patrick Roberts shared his thoughts on Sunderland's performance after a 0-0 draw away to Lincoln...

DISAPPOINTED

"Disappointed, I thought we played some really good football. Attacked well, defended well, just in that final area we lacked a bit there. You can say it's unlucky but these games are big toward the end of the season. You've got to get as many points as possible and unfortunately it just didn't happen today."

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE

"I think I'm growing in each game. The manager's been great, he's given me that license to come and do what I can do. I've been in the situation before where a run of games come and you're doing well, and you just keep growing and growing. I thought I did quite well and played a few boys through, but like I said, unfortunately it didn't happen."

MORE CLINICAL

"Obviously when I came in it was quite a tough time, conceding a lot of goals. We've got that sorted which is great, it's probably the most important thing in a game to keep the ball out of the net. The other side is to put it in and we've got the players to do that. Like I said, first and foremost stop it going in, and then we've got to be more creative and clinical at the other end. It just didn't come off today but both ends of the pitch we've done really well in the last few weeks and just got to continue that."

MANAGER

"I've been feeling good the past few weeks, been speaking to the manager all the time. I went down to the Under-23s and got a bit of fitness there, he's always been good with me, always spoke to me and kept me going. He's said 'keep going, keep training and your chance will come' and it's nice to have a manager like that. He's been like that with all the players. It's just about getting up to speed and I feel like I'm in a good place now to kick on. We've got a break now to rest the legs a little bit and we'll go again in a couple of weeks."

BELIEF

"You've always got to have that belief. The team's obviously young and we've got a collective there that's hungry for success along with the fans, we want to get back to where we belong as a club. The morale's always good and today feels like a defeat because we didn't pick up all three points, but that belief's still there and that positivity, and we'll keep going. It's a good morale all around."
