ROBERTS INJURED

Sunderland have suffered another injury blow, with Patrick Roberts set to be out of action until after the international break.

Roberts came off against Rotherham United with a 'minor hamstring strain', being replaced by Alex Pritchard.

The 26-year-old, who has just one year left on his contract, has been linked with a move away from the club with Celtic rumoured to be interested. He's started all three Championship fixtures so far this season.

A club statement claimed Roberts is expected to return to action after September's international break, meaning he will miss the upcoming away game at Coventry, as well as Southampton at home seven days later. The first game after the break is QPR away on Saturday, September 16.

The full statement read: "Sunderland AFC confirms that Patrick Roberts has sustained a minor hamstring strain. The 26-year-old, who has started all of the Club’s Sky Bet Championship fixtures this season, picked up the injury during Saturday’s victory over Rotherham United. Following a period of rehabilitation, Roberts is expected to return to action following the September international break."
