Sunderland AFC have today announced that Sunderland fan Michael Waggott has sadly passed away.
Michael received treatment from the emergency services during our 1-1 draw with Burton Albion, which was delayed early in the first half.
He was quickly transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he was described to be in a critical state, before sadly passing away on Thursday 24 February.
Michael was a lifelong Sunderland fan, and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends during this incredibly sad time.
