RANDOM UPDATES

Sunderland have announced another pre-season friendly, an ex-player has found a club and there have been more names going round the rumour mill.

TRANMERE ROVERS

The lads will travel to Prenton Park to face Tranmere in a pre-season friendly. The teams faced off in the Papa John’s trophy, with Sunderland having the edge on the day. Micky Mellon’s side become the fourth friendly to be announced, all away from home. The match will kick off at 7pm on Tuesday the 27th of July. Due to government guidelines, the club cannot yet confirm the capacity for the match or if away supporters will be permitted in this fixture. The other pre-season games announced are as follows. Spennymoor Town kick off the pre-season fixtures, before the lads visit York City. Thirdly, we face Harrogate Town before playing Tranmere as mentioned.

JOSH SCOWEN

Wycombe Wanderers have announced the signing of Josh Scowen on a two-year deal. The midfielder came through the Chairboys’ academy and returns to Adams Park on a free transfer. Things didn’t work out for Scowen on Wearside for a number of reasons, but a player with such vast Championship experience will surely improve Gareth Ainsworth’s side. This is another League One rival making signings while we remain treading water.

TYRESE DYCE

Sunderland have been heavily linked in recent days with former West Brom left back Tyrese Dyce. The 20 year old left the Baggies earlier this month and had a successful trial with our under-23s. At such a young age, Johnson may be able to develop the youngster into an impressive full-back at this level, despite only having played two senior games in the EFL Trophy.
