POWER ON FACING HIS FORMER CLUB AT WEMBLEY

Boyhood Tranmere Rovers fan Max Power has reflected on the EFL Trophy semi final win against Lincoln on Wednesday evening and looks forward to the game this weekend and the final against his former club at Wembley.

"Internally we expect to get to the final. We set ourselves that target so we've achieved it. You've got to play a lot of games to get to the final. I thought it was a really good game tonight - two good sides. Fair play to Lincoln they're at the top of the league for a reason and have got some good footballers. It was end-to-end at times but I thought in the second half we took control of the game. We got done with a bit of a sucker punch but that belief is now in the squad that we can come back into the games. When you've got someone like Charlie (Wyke) who's in the form he is and Geads (Aiden McGeady), you want to get them the ball as much as possible and they've come through again, I like going first if I can (in a shootout) to try and get the job done and get back to the line. Penalties are always potluck. You can practise them all you want but when you're in the scenario of football - people get affected differently whether it be nerves or keepers putting them off. Five out of five is a great return and we're really pleased to be going back to Wembley. We've responded really well and had a good win against Doncaster. We got the job done and got to Wembley but we're back in tomorrow to prepare for a huge game Saturday at Burton. I watched the game last night and Tranmere will feel aggrieved that they're in League 2, they're not a League 2 side and they were sent down via points-per-game which was a ridiculous decision. I'm glad they've got something to look forward to albeit without the fans there which is a real shame. It's a great club and a day I'm looking forward to."
