Finally, the season is over and we can all enjoy a stress free summer right? Nope. The rumours will be in full swing as we strap in for what could be a long summer for Sunderland with endless rumours about head coaches and players coming and going...
GAFFER GOSSIP
There are two names on everyone’s lips at the moment, and that’s Will Still and Rene Maric. Will Still has recently left Reims, and took to social media to thank everyone for his time at Reims. In the post he ended it with “see you very soon” which has led to wide speculation. Still looks to be the favourite at the moment but we’ll just have to wait and see, although an appointment sooner rather than later would be ideal.
UNDER 21’S PLAYOFF
The under 21’s managed to secure a seventh placed finish in the Premier League 2 which put them in the playoffs where they faced Wolves. After going 1-0 down on the brink of halftime Sunderland came out in the second half and put on a show, winning 4-1. Caden Kelly with a man of the match performance with a hattrick of assists, whilst Clarke 2.0 (Tommy Watson) also got a goal and an assist, perhaps they should have been given some more minutes when we had nothing to play for in the run in... Ben Middlemas, Trey Ogunsuyi and Timur Tuterov got the other goals.
We will now face off against West Ham some time next week. West Ham finished the main campaign in second place, and won their quarter final tie against Blackburn Rovers 4-1.
