Sunderland scored a late equaliser in a game that was massively overshadowed by a medical emergency in the crowd. Our thoughts are of course with those involved.
ANTHONY PATTERSON 6/10: Another game without a clean sheet, made a few smart saves but nothing outstanding.
CARL WINCHESTER 6/10: One if the few players looking to drive forward and make himself available to receive the ball. Came close with a few efforts from right back.
BAILEY WRIGHT 4/10: Once again looks slow as we were caught on the counter for Burton’s goal.
CALLUM DOYLE 3/10: Some good moments early on before quickly declining. Dove in which left Wright exposed on the counter. Needs a rest.
DENNIS CIRKIN 3/10: Lost at sea at left back. No defensive awareness and offered nothing going forward, with some awful decision making.
CORRY EVANS 4/10: Can’t remember Evans making a forward pass. Defended well in the first half but we saw the old Evans as the game wore on, becoming more anonymous and wasteful.
JAY MATETE 6/10: Physical enough but final ball let him down too often. Needs to mature if he’s going to be our new hope in midfield.
LYNDEN GOOCH 5/10: Poor decision making from Gooch, who worked hard but nothing really came off.
ALEX PRITCHARD 5/10: Tried to make things happen but another player whose final ball was lacking.
ROSS STEWART 6/10: Held the ball up and pressed well. Our late saviour to snatch a point at home to Burton Albion.
JERMAINE DEFOE 5/10: Didn’t have a sniff of goal but held the ball up and his experience came in useful.
SUBS
ELLIOT EMBLETON 3/10: Attempted about 10 crosses and they were all severely over hit, some going out of play. Corners were another story however, as they failed to heat the first man.
JACK CLARKE 6/10: Looks raw but ran at players and tried to get the ball into the box.
DAN NEIL 5/10: Didn’t do anything of note.
