PLAYER RATINGS V BURNLEY

It was a game of two halves as Sunderland gave up a 2-0 lead at home to Burnley. Here's how they rated out of ten.

ANTHONY PATTERSON 6/10: Slightly erratic at times, but wasn't really to blame for any of the goals. For the second one he had two Burnley players attacking the ball in front of him and couldn't do anything about the last two.

TRAI HUME 6/10: Started well but seemed to lose his confidence after half time. It was his weak tackle that led to their third.

LUKE O'NIEN 6/10: Had an okay game overall, and I thought for the most part he dealt with Burnley's attack pretty well - particularly in the first half.

DANNY BATTH 7/10: Really solid at the back. He was our only tall player when defending set pieces; an issue highlighted by the first goal.

DENNIS CIRKIN 5/10: Most of Burnley's attacks in the second half came down Cirkin's side, and he was very exposed. Some naive defending at times which is unusual for him.

CORRY EVANS 6/10: A good start but completely overran in the second half when Burnley gained control.

DAN NEIL 6/10: Doubled our (initial) lead with a well-struck shot. But wasn't physical enough in the second half and couldn't get any control of possession. Dispossessed far too easily for their fourth goal.

ELLIOT EMBLETON 6/10: Like many of his teammates, got stuck in in the first half but couldn't get involved as the game wore on. Probably subbed at the right time.

ALEX PRITCHARD 5/10: Really quiet when we were attacking, although he worked hard and did okay in the tight spaces. Looks low on confidence and needs a goal to kickstart his form again.

AMAD DIALLO 7/10: Took his goal really well and Burnley couldn't get near him in the first half. Faded in the second, although he should have scored a second goal from a similar position.

JACK CLARKE 6/10: Set up Amad and worked hard off the ball, but wasn't the physical presence we needed up front. One decent chance which was fired straight at the keeper.

SUBS

JEWISON BENNETTE 6/10: Lively when he got the ball and lightning quick, but it was too little too late by the time he came on. Needs to be introduced earlier in games, or even starting the odd match.

EDOUARD MICHUT 6/10: Tidy on the ball but no influence in the later stages.

ABDOULLAH BA 6/10: A hospital pass to Neil for their fourth, and couldn't get involved much in the game.
