PLAYER RATINGS V BLACKPOOL

Sunderland were involved in a second consecutive goalless draw, and were particularly disappointing in the second half. Here's how they rated out of ten...

ANTHONY PATTERSON 6/10: A real mixed bag from Patto today. Make a handful of outstanding saves, but was let down by some shaky decision-making and uncharacteristically wasn't able to command his box.

LYNDEN GOOCH 6/10: Started really well and put in some solid tackles, but became more exposed as the game wore on and Blackpool exploited our right flank time and time again.

LUKE O'NIEN 7/10: Had his hands full in the second half but dealt with everything and battled in the air.

DANNY BATTH 7/10: Like O'Nien, had to do more defensive work as the game went on but won most of his duels and never looked like making a mistake.

AJI ALESE 7/10: A threat in both boxes, with some solid defending as well as marauding runs from deep. There were times when he was our most advanced player, in an attempt to win some long balls in the absence of a tall striker.

CORRY EVANS 6/10: Plenty of tenacity from Evans who won the ball back a few times and was steady as ever in midfield. Ran out of steam in the second half and replaced by the much younger, much faster Abdoullah Ba.

ELLIOT EMBLETON 6/10: Hit the bar in the first half and had a goal ruled out in the second, but struggled to keep the ball at times and influence the game too much.

ALEX PRITCHARD 7/10: Busy as always from Pritch. In a slightly deeper role he was able to wriggle in and out of those tight spaces, and help us keep possession - mostly in the first 45 minutes.

PATRICK ROBERTS 6/10: Tried to cut in onto his left foot time and time again, but was limited to half-chances and didn't look particularly dangerous.

AMAD DIALLO 6/10: Started brightly but guilty of over-complicating things on the ball. Looks reluctant to shoot, hopefully a goal soon can change that for a player who showed some real bright moments.

JACK CLARKE 7/10: Played all across the front line at times today, and was our biggest attacking threat. Not everything came off for him but kept grafting and almost won it for us late on.

SUBS

ABDOULLAH BA 6/10: Some sloppy passing but at least he was looking to pass it forwards rather than sideways or backwards.

DAN NEIL 6/10: Played the 'Corry Evans' role of sitting in front of the defence and shielding them.

JEWISON BENNETTE 6/10: Really lively and worked so hard, put one great ball in for Clarke late on.

EDOUARD MICHUT 6/10: Tidy on the ball and plenty of energy on his Sunderland debut. Took a cynical yellow as Blackpool were on the break.

LEON DAJAKU 6/10: Not much presence up front and was overall pretty quiet in the dying stages.
