Ahead of Sunderland's away fixture at Fleetwood, we caught up with Fleetwood fan and content creator Knappers to talk about the Cod Army's start to the season.
Fleetwood are 17th in the league. Are you happy with how things are going so far?
Fleetwood was always going to start slow. Pompey, Lincoln and Wednesday all in first 4. Followed by Cheltenham and Plymouth who aren’t bad sides. We’ve taken 7 points from the last 9. That’s a good return.
Did you guys make any standout signings in the summer?
I think we made a few nice signings. Callum Johnson coming in on loan at RB. Callum Morton also looks quite good on his day. No standouts but a few nice small signings that may go unnoticed.
Who’s been your best performer so far?
For me I’m going to say Tom Clarke. Always a 7/10. And a true leader on the pitch. Gives everything and blocks with any part of his body. His experience will help a young back line!
Simon Grayson was a massive failure at Sunderland. What do you make of Grayson at Fleetwood?
Personally, I wasn’t happy with Grayson at Fleetwood, but we are on a low budget, want to provide youth, and he has experience in those two areas. He did it very well at Preston.
You pulled off a shock 4-2 win at Rotherham in your last match! What was the best thing about that performance?
Callum Morton. Nothing more to say. Unplayable. Ran Rotherham ragged!
Which Sunderland player worries you the most?
Ross Stewart up front. A true striker, and much better then Wyke. Embleton in midfield is also a gem.
What’s your score prediction, and who will get the goals?
1-1. Stewart and Morton will get on the scoresheet.
And finally, where do you think the two teams will finish this season?
Sunderland will finish fourth, and Fleetwood will finish sixteenth.
