OPPOSITION VIEW: BRADFORD CITY

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

Ahead of tonight's Papa John's Trophy tie against Bradford City, we spoke to one of the oldest fanzines in Britain, the City Gent...

Bradford are 12th in League Two. Are you happy with how things are going so far?

It has been an okay start to the season, obviously all Bradford City fans would prefer us to be in the top three at the moment, but our failure to kill off games and conceding late goals has been our downfall so far. We create loads of chances, but fail to convert them into goals. Defence also seems susceptible to conceding late goals which also doesn't help.

Is Derek Adams the right man to take you guys forward?

He'd better be as he's been given a 3 year contract on the back of his proven track record of gaining promotion with the clubs that he has managed previously.

Will Adams play a strong team tonight, with both teams' fate already confirmed in the Trophy?

He will probably have to as there are rules regarding playing players who played in the previous match etc, which means that yes there are some squad players will be given a run out, but with some key players out injured and with us operating with a relatively small squad this season, I expect the team to be made up of mainly 6 or7 of the regular first team players with a few others getting a game.

Have you guys got any danger men who could cause an out of form Sunderland side some trouble?

I expect striker Lee Angol to play tonight as he is coming back from a lengthy hamstring injury which kept him out of the squad for over 2 months. He came on as a substitute in the FA Cup game against Exeter City last Saturday and looked lively and will want to gain some match fitness to put him in contention for our next league game at Port Vale on Saturday.

Which Sunderland players worry you the most?

I'm afraid I can't think of anyone in particular now that former Bantam Charlie Wyke is no longer at Sunderland.

Are you confident going into the game?

Not really, but there again, neither side has anything to play for, so it is hard to predict anything but a dull game which both clubs are contractually obliged to play.

What's your score prediction for tonight?

0-0 and a Sunderland win on penalties.
