This Tuesday has been relatively dull SAFC wise, formerly linked players have joined other clubs, former players are on trials and Callum Doyle has announced his departure from Sunderland, effectively squishing any chances of a return to Wearside after his loan last season.
DOYLE DEPARTS
Defender Callum Doyle has said his farewell to all those involved at Sunderland, he left a message on his twitter thanking all the fans and the people around the club for his time up north. This message dampens any chances of a return back to us as many were hoping, because surely he wouldn't say this goodbye if he didn't already know if he was coming back or not. Who knows, maybe we'll face off against him in the Championship next season?
CRESSWELL TO MILLWALL
One of our rumoured targets, Charlie Cresswell from Leeds has joined Millwall on loan this season. The defender was rumoured to be a player we were interested in however the player is linking up with George Honeyman at the Lions this season.
WICKHAM ON TRIAL
Former striker Conor Wickham spent last season in League One with MK Dons, who reached the play-offs but were eliminated by Wycombe in the semis. Wickham only played a handful of games and his contract ran out in the summer. Now he is on trial with Reading in the Championship looking to secure a permanent spot before the season starts.
PNE SIGN TWO TARGETS
Alex Neil’s former side, Preston North End, have signed two players who had been linked with us previously. They've brought in Ben Woodburn who has been released from Liverpool on a free and Robbie Brady who was let go by Bournemouth this summer. The latter of the two was more heavily linked with us, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield as we were all thought to be interested in the winger.
SAFC ANNOUNCE PRE-SEASON FIXTURE
In case you missed it, yesterday evening the club announced that there will be one more fixture in their pre-season tour in Portugal, the Lads will face off against Jose Mourinho and Roma. They play the UEFA Europa Conference League winners four days after playing Europa League runners-up Rangers.
