Alex Neil had some choice words for Michael Appleton, after he was asked about the Lincoln boss' comments about Sunderland "massively needing points". Neil also spoke about fellow Scot Chris Maguire.
DON'T CARE
"Michael Appleton can say what he likes. I don’t really care. Yeah of course we need points! We need points to stay in the top six and stay in the hunt to get out of the league. I’m sure they need points for different reasons. Let’s be brutally honest- in this game coming up there’s going to be more pressure on us than there is on them. I think that’s what Michael’s try to intimate, which is fine. I knew that when I took the job. I knew that always going to be the case."
MAGUIRE
"More broadly (focused) on the team. Week on week, we focus on the team more than any individual irrespective of who we’re playing. There are certain facets of teams that utilise players more than others and we may need to pay particular attention to them."
GAME PLAN
"We have a game plan for playing against Lincoln in general and then hopefully we can try and implement that and play as well as we can."
MUST WIN
"Yeah it's really important (good form) we have 8 games remaining in the league at the moment and we need to go and try and win as many as we can. That’s a job every game that comes up."
