NEIL UPDATE ON BATTH AND DEFOE

The gaffer mentioned the recovery progress of Danny Batth and the performances of Jermain Defoe in his first few appearances back at the club.

BATTH

"He's been on the grass, he's been doing running and he's been in better nick, he's not far away now. He's not trained with us specifically but he's been doing his own work in terms of changing direction and all that stuff."

DEFOE

"He's a player that came on and had an impact in the last game [against Fleetwood]. I think most people watching the last game would have started him [against Crewe] and unfortunately we didn't really get good enough service up there.”

PLEASING

"We didn't really have enough of an impact so we took him off but then the pleasing thing is, instead of having two [strikers] standing against them, we wanted to try and see if we could flood that area centrally and see if it worked, and it did."
