The gaffer has given his thoughts on our performance today as we managed to eke out a decent point against a difficult Plymouth Argyle side at Home Park...
TWEAK
“I thought for the first 15 minutes we started really brightly, moved the ball crisp. I was thinking we look at it today. I thought the game swung a little bit and i had to tweak it at half time to get us more of a foothold in the game and we controlled the second half without creating too many golden opportunities. It’s just that balance between having control of the game, having the ball and still creating opportunities.”
QUALITY
“I thought we got into good areas but our quality let us down which is rare. I think in recent weeks our quality at the top end of the pitch has been excellent, hence the reason why we’ve scored some goals and damaged teams.”
HARD TO BEAT
“They’re hard to break down and hard to beat...it became a cagey game. We did throw caution to the wind, we brought Gooch on the right side, we brought Pat on and we brought Dan on to create something but it just wasn’t to be. What we have got now is resilience now where we don’t lose. I thought second half , defensively we were very strong... I thought if anyone was going to win it it was going to be us, but a point is probably a fair result.”
AGGRESIVE CHANGES
“That control was there its just that quality wasn’t there. I think we did commit decent numbers forward, you could probably argue we could commit maybe a little bit more forward but i think all in all its not a bad result for us. We didn’t set out to come down here for a point, we set out to try and win the match. We made aggressive changes to win the match. If we’re being honest we didn’t quite do enough to win the game.”
BIG MATCHES
“Coming down here was always going to be a difficult match for everybody and we did what we needed to do, we wanted to win it... now we can rest up for a couple of days, get ourselves prepared for three really big matches.”
FANS
“(Fans were) Absolutely brilliant. Everywhere we do go the fans are there and they were brilliant. To be fair, their fans were very vocal in backing their team as well and it made for a great atmosphere. I’m hopeful that they felt we did them justice today in terms of the effort the Lads put in. We know we can play better but we got a point and hopefully the next three games will be really important for us.”
