MOWBRAY POST ROVERS

Tony Mowbray spoke following an impressive display from the very bright mackems in their new third kit on Wednesday evening.

GREAT RESULT

“Well I’m not sure the first half was a terrific performance! I think we rode our luck, they are a very good team, I think they are the best team we’ve played so far this season in terms of the way they play, their plan, they flood midfield, they get it through your lines, they probably just lacked a bit of cutting edge. Frustrating to lose the goal though, Danny Ballard was off the pitch when they scored, we always carried a threat, even first half I thought we carried a threat, scored two goals, we could have scored some more. I should put on record I think they are an outstanding team, really really well coached football team and to come here and win 3-1 is a great result for the club. “

THINGS FALLING INTO PLACE

“I think we’re stretched a little bit, injuries are sort of difficult to deal with at the moment and yet it's the depth of the squad and the ideal plan would be to drop some of the new signings into the team bit by bit and get them used to how we play. I do think it’s difficult for the likes of Mason, we’re trying to get him to link and play and be a footballer rather than a centre forward who stands down the middle and his goals will come because he's working very hard for the team, I'm very happy with what he's doing at the moment I just think he’ll need a goal over the next few weeks and delighted for Abdoullah out here in front of me second half, winning headers, working hard, tackling back as well as again being a goal threat.”

ISSUED A CHALLENGE

“The team are functioning alright I've just said how difficult it is to win three on the bounce in the Championship, it’s really really difficult, I've just challenged them there about can we do four on the bounce on Sunday and our biggest danger for that game will be ourselves really we have to turn up and make sure we are right at it as we’re playing a top top team, Cardiff who have won back to back games now as well so they'll be on a high, it should be a great game but a great opportunity for us to keep racking up the points.”

QUICK TURNAROUND

“The schedule is really really tough at the moment that's why I mentioned the injuries, we need to get a few back we’re not far away but biggest we’ve got is next week I know we’ve got a turnaround of a Wednesday night and a Saturday morning against Middlesbrough, is it Watford on a Wednesday night and it doesn't feel as if its enough time if you picture the lads who've got to graft their socks off on a Wednesday night, get home and in their beds after midnight, have to come in for training the next day, have one days prep to play Middlesbrough at 12:30 on the Saturday morning is a real big ask for us but that's why we’re going to have to try and utilise the squad, rotate around a little bit, give them all an opportunity but not to the expense of giving up points if we can help it.”
