MOWBRAY ON YOUTH

Tony Mowbray believes that we have depth in every position, with younger players ready to make the the step up and that time could come soon.

SPARE PLAYERS

“It feels like at the moment we’ve got two spare players for every position if you’re counting the young lads that came in. They are very much part of the first-team but I am trying to filter them into the team bit-by-bit.”

INTEGRATE YOUTH

“We don’t seem light on players but it’s only one or two excess every time. So if we pick up an injury or a suspension, which is pertinent at the moment, we’ve got one spare player. You have to be mindful to rotate but not weaken the team too much. Young players who haven’t had much game time are making more obvious starting positions. The good thing for me is I think these lads are just about ready where I can start them. We’ve given them enough times off the bench. 20 minutes here, 30 minutes there.”

GAME TIME

“I think the next phase for them is to maybe start a game and if they are struggling at half-time, we can bring them off. Or if they can get an hour we can work them up a full 90 minutes.”
