Tony Mowbray has spoken about his former clubs Middlesbrough and Blackburn, after he was left relying on their results on the last day of the season!
BORO
“I thought Middlesbrough would find a way to beat Coventry at the Riverside because they’ve got so many goalscoring players in their team."
BLACKBURN
“But instead, it was Blackburn who got the result for us, a team I obviously know well because I was there for five years. I know those players and I loved those players."
ROVERS PLAYERS
“I love Brereton Diaz, I love (Lewis) Travis, I love (Scott) Wharton. These are young lads that have come all the way through really. Brereton Diaz had such a tough time in that first year after spending £6m on him, but he became the player that we all knew he had inside him. Somebody told me he scored a couple the goals (against Millwall)."
JOB DONE
“It’s an amazing result for Blackburn, although obviously really disappointing for them that they didn’t get into the play-offs. They’re a really good football team, and they helped us and we’ve got the job done."
DESERVE OUR PLACE
“When the ball stops rolling, then where everyone finishes is where everyone deserves to be. We’ve finished sixth after 46 games and it’s a fair result. You deserve to finish where you finish after so many games.”
