MORNING ROUNDUP

It’s been a busy Monday evening on Wearside, Sunderland have made an announcement that they will make another announcement later, whilst providing an update on Ballard's injury and remaining active in the market.

SUNDERLAND ANNOUNCEMENT

Yesterday the club announced that they will release an update on developments within the club after meetings with fans to discuss the “recent engagement experiences with the club and the level of customer service provided in certain areas that has fallen well well short of the required standard.” Although it doesn’t explicitly mention the club shop or the ticket office it surely has to do with both, and hopefully they’ve found their keys to open it more than twice a week, hell even ALS are open Mon-Fri. It’s not that hard!

BALLARD INJURY

Another announcement from the club came out yesterday, this one was regarding the Daniel Ballard injury that occurred at the SoL on Saturday against QPR. It has been revealed that Ballard has picked up a fractured foot, which on average can take at least six weeks to recover from. A silver lining to the injury is that it happened in the transfer window, so we could go out and sign another defender to fill the void that has been left via the injury. If it were up to you would you sign another defender or do we have enough quality backup? Could Aji Alese step up or will it go to Bailey Wright or someone else?

TRANSFER RUMOURS

The most recent of rumours regarding SAFC have been perhaps the brightest of them all, we’ve been mentioned as one of the clubs trying to get Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo, who spent last season on loan with Rangers. And before that the winger signed for Man Utd for around £20 million in January 2021.

Aside from Diallo, we’ve also been linked to another attacking player, Jewison Benette from Costa Rica. Reports say he is due to have his medical later today, so he could be in contention for Saturday at least. The 18 year old has reportedly already agreed to a four year deal with the Lads pending the medical. Benette is the youngest player to play for Costa Rica and has made six appearances for his country already, even at such a young age.
