MONDAY ROUNDUP

It looks like Sunderland could be closing in on an attacker - meanwhile, Super Kevin Phillips is among the favourites to take over a League One side...

RUSYN CLOSE

Ukrainian journalist Igor Semyon has reported that Sunderland have agreed terms for striker Nazariy Rusyn. He claims that Zorya Luhansk manager Nenad Lalatovic left the 24-year-old out of his squad for yesterday's 1-1 draw against Mynai because he is set to leave the club. Rusyn is reportedly waiting for a work permit before he travels to Wearside for a medical, ahead of Friday's transfer deadline day. Rusyn scored 13 goals in 30 games for Zorya last season, and also contributed three assists. He has scored one goal in two games this season, being linked with Sunderland for a number of weeks now as the club look to bolster their options up front.

PHILLIPS TO CHARLTON?

In other news, Sunderland legend Kevin Phillips is among the frontrunners to take charge of Charlton Athletic following the exit of Dean Holden. He has been linked with countless clubs since his surprising departure from South Shields, following their promotion to the National League North. Charlie Methven and Jim Rodwell are two men involved with the running of Charlton, and it will come as no surprise to Sunderland fans that Holden was reportedly sacked via text message. Lee Johnson, who was sacked by Hibs on the same day as Holden, is 5/1 for the Addicks' job alongside Super Kev. Former Sunderland coach Steve Cotterill is rated 8/1 whilst Lee Cattermole is an outside shout at 33/1.
