LO9 POST PLYMOUTH

Luke O'Nien was keen to stay level-headed after the defeat at Plymouth, and reminded fans how close we are to the play-offs whilst acknowledging it was a poor result on the day...

DISAPPOINTING RESULT

“Disappointed not to give the fans who were behind us the points they deserved after the travelling and the noise they made. We’re disappointed that we didn’t give ourselves a platform for the second half, although we did create the chances, just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net. So it’s frustrating but there’s a lot to learn and I’m sure we’ll take some good things into the next game.”

PERSPECTIVE

“I think perspective is key. We’re only two points out of the top six, I think only maybe five teams have scored more than us this season so we’re in a good position. We’ve got the standards and the expectation that we want to win every game which I think is good for the group - granted, when you don’t get the points it’s disappointing. So we’ve got to find a bit of balance, the senior lads have got to put some perspective into the group and realise we’re not far off the top six. We’ve got to build on today’s performance, make sure we get better and better, and these lessons will serve us towards the end of the season when we really need to points.”

GOOD SECOND HALF

“I thought second half we were very good. We’ve got to take the lessons from that half and see why we were so solid. We probably reduced them to one chance, just got to learn those lessons quickly. I thought the boys who came on were good and created some good chances. I just said to some of the boys, when they practice now they know what they need to practice. The more minutes they get, they’ll have to put a bit more pressure on themselves in training so when they do get the opportunities they take them.”

FANS

“Those guys were first class, which is probably one of the biggest reasons we’re so disappointed today that we didn’t give them something to go home and enjoy. So we’re disappointed but I know they’re behind us every single game and it was nice to see some of them at the hotel today. We can only thank them for travelling and for the noise, we’ve just got to make sure that on Wednesday and Saturday we put in performances that they’re proud of and pick up the points to make their trips home an enjoyable one.”
