Jordan Jones has been evaluating his time at the club so far and previewing the visit of Charlton Athletic this weekend…
PETERBOROUGH
“Tough game, really tough pitch think it was hard to play our game that we wanted to play. Obviously, we like to get the ball down and play football and get it moving but like I said, it was a really tough pitch and I think we've come away quite happy with the point. Obviously, we want to, we want to get three points from all games, but some games you just have to get what you can. It was an away game so get the point and move on to the next game. It was a really important point, to be honest, a loss would have stopped the run that we've been on. So, like I said, it's a good point, Great bit of play from Geads for the goal and good character from the lads after going one down and like I say, we'll move on and try and get as many points as possible.”
THE DRESSING ROOM
“I think it's massive that we have got good character in the side, I think the game against Oxford we stayed in it and then managed to get the three points. And then obviously, against Peterborough, which was an away game, which is even tougher to come from behind. Again, we showed really good character, and I think we've got players on the pitch all the time, who can hurt the opposition. We haven't really had much time to train to be honest, since I've been here because of the number of games it's just sort of ticking the boxes in training and getting a bit of running in your legs and the gaffer does as much tactical stuff as he can with his board it's really limited obviously because of the amount of games but it's really good, the boys are enjoying it and I think everyone in the squad in a really good place. We just need to keep kicking on.”
CHARLTON
“Looking forward to it, personally myself, I don't really know that much about Charlton to be honest, but obviously I know they've been they're doing okay this season but I think the big thing for us is not to really worry about anyone we're play and I think look we play for Sunderland we've got a really good group of boys, there's good character amongst the group, good mentality and I think we're approaching every game that if we're our best we're going to win the game and I think that's the way it has to be if you want to, if you want to win this league and go up. You need to respect every opposition and I think it'd be stupid not to especially in this league there's teams that won’t play the prettiest of football, but they can still manage to get a point or three points off you, so you'd be stupid not to respect any opposition we play but on the same, I think if we're at our best then we'll be anyone in this league. It's as simple as that. Every game is as important as the next one. Having come from Rangers, that was obviously the mentality the lads had amongst the whole season that you have to treat every game the same and I think that's exactly the same here. We treat every game the same and like I say if we go into every game and we're at our best or we're near our best, I think we'll have a really good chance of winning this league.”
SETTLING IN
“I'm really enjoying it, it's nice to be here, it's nice to be valued I know the manager values mean I've got a really good relationship my teammates and the fans have been different class for the messages and stuff I've seen on social media and stuff like that so I'm just really enjoying it call me obviously wanting to play football and I'm doing that obviously I got an injury against Portsmouth which was really unlucky because I just felt like that was when I was really starting to get towards my best in fitness and match fitness because I haven't actually had a run of games for probably about two years or so I'm just trying to get the much fitness in me but I'm really enjoying it. I'm enjoying every minute, so the main aim is promotion like I said in my first interview and that hasn't changed and I’m expecting my first baby any day now so I'm really looking forward to that, just keep checking my phone make sure my girlfriend doesn't pop yet but I’m sure that will come in the right time and just over the moon to be back home and looking forward to the future.”
