INTERNATIONAL SCHEDULE

We are now in the international break and the lads who will be representing their countries have left Sunderland, here is every Sunderland player on international duty and their upcoming games.

TRAI HUME & DAN BALLARD (NORTHERN IRELAND)

Trai Hume has had a great start to the season which has saw him earn a few international appearances already this season with Northern Ireland in their Euros Qualifiers. In Northern Ireland’s last four games he has started them all but has failed to register a win with his country so far, losing to Denmark, Kazakhstan (twice) and Slovenia.

Dan Ballard has been in the Northern Ireland squad for a bit longer than Trai, having started 19 games for his country, which would have been more if it wasn’t for injuries. Unlike Trai, Ballard has been in a winning Northern Ireland side, recording wins over San Marino and Lithuania. He actually scored in the Lithuania win, and he has one more goal to his name however that came in a 3-2 loss to Kosovo.

Here is Trai and Dan’s upcoming games for Northern Ireland:

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER, 2PM – NORTHERN IRELAND VS SAN MARINO

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 7:45PM – NORTHERN IRELAND VS SLOVENIA

NAZARIY RUSYN (UKRAINE)

This could turn out to be a massive international break for Rusyn, as he has received his first call up for the senior squad. Rusyn’s record for the U21’s was pretty good, scoring six goals in ten games so he’ll be hoping he can get a chance to continue his international form in the next two upcoming matches.

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER, 2PM – UKRAINE VS NORTH MACEDONIA

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 7:45PM – MALTA VS UKRAINE

MASON BURSTOW (ENGLAND U20)

Burstow is yet to make an appearance for the England youth, at any level, but he joins the Young Lions at the Under 20 level, above some other Sunderland lads. I think this is a great thing for Burstow, and hopefully something that can only benefit us as it will hopefully keep him hungry to succeed and stay within the England set up by performing well at club level. He is yet to find the back of the net for us, but he does have one assist so far.

Burstow has two potential debut opportunities coming up:

THURSDAY 12TH OCTOBER, 4PM – ROMANIA U20’S VS ENGLAND U20’S

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 7PM – ENGLAND U20’S VS PORTUGAL U20’S

JOBE BELLINGHAM (ENGLAND U19)

Jobe is climbing the ranks with England, having represented them from the U15’s all the way to the U19’s and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him joining Burstow soon. Jobe only has two appearances for the U19’s, but for the U18’s he made nine appearances and also grabbed two goals which earned him the step up as well as the captains armband last month.

It looks like a busy week ahead for Jobe:

WEDNESDAY 11TH OCTOBER, 5PM – ENGLAND U19’S VS MONTENEGRO U19’S

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER, 2PM – ENGLAND U19’S VS WALES U19’S

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 5PM – AUSTRIA U19’S VS ENGLAND U19’S

CHRIS RIGG & TOMMY WATSON (ENGLAND U18)

Rigg featured last month for the Under-17’s last month, but now he has moved up to the U18’s alongside Tommy Watson.

Three upcoming games for the lads:

WEDNESDAY 11TH OCTOBER, 2PM – ENGLAND U18’S VS BELGIUM U18’S

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOEBR, 1:30PM -ENGLAND U18’S VS MOROCCO U18’S

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER, 4:30PM – ENGLAND U18’S VS SOUTH KOREA U18’S

JEWISON BENNETTE (COSTA RICA U23)

Last month Jewi was with the senior squad, which included playing a game at St. James’ as well as training at the South Shields FC facilities. But since the senior squad don’t have any upcoming games this international break, Jewi has been selected to represent Costa Rica in the Under-23 level.

Two games against the same team for Jewi and Costa Rica:

SATURDAY 14TH OCTOBER – COSTA RICA U23’S VS COLOMBIA U23’S

TUESDAY 17TH OCTOBER – COLOMBIA U23’S VS COSTA RICA U23’S

TREY OGUNSUYI (BELGIUM U18)

Trey Ogunsuyi has played two games for the Belgium Under-18’s, both last month, and now he looks forward to potentially playing against both Chris Rigg and Tommy Watson as Belgium face England. In his first appearance for Belgium, he came off the bench as they lost 2-1 to Norway U17, but in the next game he started, and Belgium defeated Sweden U18 3-1 so hopefully he had a positive enough impact to warrant another start in the upcoming games.

Here is Belgium’s upcoming games:
