INTERNATIONAL CALLUPS

Again, we have another international break approaching us after the Birmingham game, here are all the lads who have been called up so far, including a first international call up for Niall Huggins.

NIALL HUGGINS

Starting off with Niall Huggins, who had a great return from injury last month, coming in for the then injured Dennis Cirkin. Niall was back up to speed fairly quickly and also scored that screamer against Watford and has been rewarded with a first senior international call up. Here is what the Wales boss, Rob Page, had to say on Niall:

“He’s athletic. He’s playing with a young team. I like how they play. Full of energy. He can play both sides for us. How we play I think he suits us. He fits in with how we want to play really well.”

Wales are second in their qualifying group, behind the already qualified Turkey. They are tied on points with Croatia, with both teams on 10 points. The next two games for Wales are Armenia and Turkey and hopefully Niall can get some gametime and help his nation qualify.

DAN BALLARD & TRAI HUME

This one comes as no surprise, but Dan Ballard and Trai Hume are also heading off on international duty for Northern Ireland. They will be facing Finland and Denmark in Grouph H of the Euro 2024 qualifiers however, they can’t qualify for next summer’s tournament even if they win both games.

NECTARIOS TRIANTIS

Nectar has been called up to the Australian Under 23’s again who have friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Nectar has two appearances for the under 23’s, playing 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Mexico U23 back in July and then he recently played 55 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Tajikistan U23. What is interesting, is that according to Transfermrkt Nectar was playing in midfield and not in defence against Tajikistan.

NAZARIY RUSYN

Nazariy Rusyn, now nicknamed Ukraine Bolt, has been placed on the Ukrainian reserves list for their upcoming Euro qualifiers where they only have one game remaining. Ukraine are currently sitting second place in Group C, behind England who have already qualified, but three points ahead of third placed Italy who they face on Monday, November 20. As it stands Naz will be watching Ukraine from home, but should any called up players get injured he could be one the late call ups. Regardless, lets hope Ukraine qualify and Nazariy will have that extra inspiration to perform on Wearside to grab a spot on the team for the 2024 Euros.

CHRIS RIGG

Then of course we have Chris Rig who was called up last week to the England under 17 World Cup with England. They are due to play their first game this Saturday at 9am against New Caledonia U17.
